 7:00 PM Monday

Good afternoon, East Tennessee!

We’re tracking a chance of strong to severe thunderstorms for Tuesday. A storm system currently affecting the Plains will move east over the next few days. Showers and thunderstorms are likely Tuesday through Thursday. The best chance for severe weather is on Tuesday. We may see few strong to severe thunderstorms mainly around Chattanooga and along the Plateau. The main threats are damaging winds in excess of 60 mph, large hail over 1 inch in diameter, and heavy rainfall that may cause localized flooding. But overall, the severe threat is low and mostly limited to Southeast Tennessee and the Plateau. Folks living in Middle Tennessee will see a better chance for severe storms.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed Southeast Tennessee and the Plateau under a “Slight Risk” for severe storms Tuesday.

Tuesday night, the severe threat will diminish but we will continue to see scattered showers and thunderstorms. Lows will be in the 60s.

After Tuesday, we’ll continue to see a decent chance of showers and t-storms daily. Temperatures will remain warm, with highs in the upper-70s to low-80s. This weather pattern will likely continue as we head into the weekend.
